"E-hookah" is not one product category but five, and most brand comparisons go wrong by lining up devices from different ones. There are small hookah pens rated in the low thousands of puffs, high-capacity sealed disposables rated 25,000 to 200,000, disposable hookah heads that sit on a real hookah, refillable heads you fill yourself, and electric hookahs that heat molasses rather than e-liquid. This guide sorts 22 devices from 16 brands into those categories, with every number taken from the maker's page or, where the maker publishes nothing, a named US retailer listing, as of September 2026. In market terms: Olit Hookalit sits at the ultra-low-nicotine end (0.35%, the lowest fixed strength of any brand on this page except the 0% options), the Geek Bar Burj 80K is a mid-capacity DTL disposable with a screen and modes, and the Crown Bar Ultra 25K is a pocket disposable at the standard 5%. The five e-hookah formats, and who makes each
1. Small hookah pens (under 5,000 puffs)
The original "e-hookah pen" of the 2010s: a stick, often non-rechargeable, sold singly or in packs. The Air Bar Stick Hookah Edition (2,500 puffs, 1,000mAh, not rechargeable, Paan and Code 69 flavors) is the clearest current example from a maker page. The format has faded because its cost per puff is many times that of a high-capacity device — a 2,500-puff pen would need to sell for a few dollars to match a 40,000-puff disposable at $18.99. Several older pen brands could not be verified from a maker page in September 2026 and are left out rather than listed on hearsay.
2. High-capacity sealed disposables (25,000 to 200,000 puffs)
The centre of the 2026 market, and where most of the brands above compete: Urban Tale × Lost Mary E-Hookah 26K, Vozol Gear Shisha 40000, JNR Crown Shisha 100K, Ploox Molasses 75K, Bang QQ Shisha 200K, and from our shelf the Olit Hookalit 40K and Pro 60K, the Geek Bar Burj 80K and the Al Fakher Crown Bar Ultra 25K. Common traits: a USB-C rechargeable cell, a mesh coil, a DTL or adjustable draw, and increasingly a screen with power modes that publish two puff ratings (Vozol 40,000 Eco / 20,000 Power; Burj 80K Eco / 40K Pulse; Urban Tale 26,000 MTL / 16,000 DTL). Nicotine varies from 0.35% (Olit) through 0.5–0.6% (Burj, Vozol, Ploox, Urban Tale) and 2–3% (JNR) to 5% (Crown Bar), and Bang lists four strengths including 0%.
3. Disposable hookah heads (sit on a real hookah)
A newer shape: a sealed, pre-filled unit sized to sit where a clay bowl would, so an existing hookah draws vapor through its water base, with most also working standalone. Kori Hookah Head 100K and 120K (2,200mAh, 0.2Ω, adjustable top airflow), Heybar Crystal 25K and Gold 50K, and JNR Mega Shisha 100K are the verified examples. Ratings here run high because the tanks are big (Kori 120K lists 60 mL, JNR Mega 60 mL) and the coils are built for DTL. Nicotine is mostly 0.5% to 5%; JNR's is 2%.
4. Refillable e-hookah heads and e-hoses
Fill it yourself, use any e-liquid, keep the hardware. The Aspire Proteus Neo (25 mL, 5,700mAh, two coil options up to 80 W, adjustable airflow) and the Square E-Head (two 8 mL tanks) are refillable heads; the Starbuzz E-Hose 50K is a disposable in a hose shape rather than a refillable. From our shelf the Olit Hookalit Mega 200K (80 mL, dual LIT mesh, standalone or on a base) is the refillable head we carry. This is the only format where nicotine is whatever you buy in the bottle, including 0%.
5. Electric hookahs that heat shisha, not e-liquid
OOKA and OOKA Pro heat molasses pods (Al Fakher, Zodiac and Cookies pods, NFC-set temperature, mains-powered, a 62-inch hose) and Ensō heats loose shisha or capsules on a 5,000mAh removable battery with a 180–330 °C dial. These are hookahs with an electric oven instead of charcoal, not vapes, and they are priced like furniture. They belong on the page because "electric hookah" searches land on both categories; if you want a table device with no coals, this is the format, and if you want something in a pocket, it is not.
Reading the market: what the numbers show
- Nicotine is the widest spread. Fixed-strength devices run from 0.35% (Olit Hookalit) to 5% (Crown Bar, Kori per retailer). A 5% device carries roughly fourteen times the nicotine per millilitre of a 0.35% one. Only Bang and the refillables offer 0%.
- Two ratings are becoming normal. Any device with modes or an MTL/DTL switch now publishes a high and a low number; compare like with like, and assume the low one if you draw like a hookah hose.
- "Hookah head" is the growth format. Kori, Heybar and JNR Mega all launched sit-on-a-hookah disposables; our Olit Mega 200K is the refillable take on the same idea.
- Maker pages are thin. Of 17 devices, 6 had to be read from a retailer listing, and several maker pages omit tank size or nicotine entirely. That is why cells show dashes.
- Price is the least stable number, so this page does not list third-party prices at all. Work out cost per puff from a shelf price with the formula in the cost per puff guide.
