At list price, the cheapest e-hookah per puff we stock is the Olit Hookalit Mega 200K at about $0.19 per 1,000 rated puffs, and the most expensive is the Al Fakher Crown Bar Ultra 25K at about $0.96. The Geek Bar Burj 80K sits at $0.37 in Eco mode, the Olit Pro 60K at $0.35 and the Olit 40K at $0.47. Those figures are computed from the prices on our product pages when this page was built, so they move when prices move. Below is the full table, what the ratings leave out, and how a hookah pen compares with a lounge visit.
Cost per 1,000 puffs, every device
| Device | Price | Rated puffs | Cost per 1,000 puffs | Puffs per $1 | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olit Hookalit Mega 200K | $37.99 | 200,000 | $0.19 | 5265 | Device only; refills add e-liquid cost, but the head is reused |
| Geek Bar Burj 80K | $29.99 | 80,000 | $0.37 | 2668 | Rating is Eco mode; Regular ≈60K, Pulse ≈40K raise the cost |
| Olit Hookalit Pro 60K | $20.99 | 60,000 | $0.35 | 2859 | Sealed, single flavor |
| Olit Hookalit 40K | $18.99 | 40,000 | $0.47 | 2106 | MTL rating; a DTL draw roughly halves the puff count |
| Al Fakher Crown Bar Ultra 25K | $23.99 | 25,000 | $0.96 | 1042 | Sealed, single flavor |
Two devices need a second row in your head. The Geek Bar Burj 80K is rated 80,000 puffs only in Eco mode; in Pulse mode, the hardest-hitting setting, the same tank is rated around 40,000, which doubles the cost to about $0.75 per 1,000. The Olit Hookalit 40K is rated 40,000 mouth-to-lung; pull it direct-to-lung the way you would a hookah hose and it is closer to 20,000, or about $0.95 per 1,000. The Olit Mega 200K goes the other way: its $0.19 is device cost alone, and because the head is refillable you add e-liquid over its life but never rebuy the hardware.
What a puff rating actually measures
A puff rating is the maker's count of machine-drawn puffs of a fixed, short length until the liquid or battery is exhausted. Real draws on an e-hookah are longer and looser than a machine puff, especially DTL, so nobody gets the rated number; what matters is that every brand is measured the same way, which makes the ratio between devices meaningful even when the absolute number is optimistic. Three things move your real cost away from the table:
- Draw style. A DTL pull moves several times the vapor of a tight MTL pull. That is why the Olit 40K publishes two ratings and why the Burj's modes change its count.
- Mode and airflow. Higher output heats more liquid per second. On the Burj, Eco to Pulse halves the rating; on the Crown Bar, its dual modes and two airflow levels do the same in smaller steps.
- Battery versus liquid. Every device here recharges over USB-C, so the liquid, not the battery, is the limit. A device you cannot recharge would strand liquid in the tank when the cell died; none of these do.
E-hookah versus a hookah lounge session
A lounge visit is priced per bowl, and one bowl typically lasts a table 45 to 90 minutes. To compare, take what your lounge charges for a bowl and set it against a device. Worked example, using a round $25 bowl only as an illustration and not as a quoted price: if a session is roughly 200 to 300 draws, that bowl costs about $0.08 to $0.13 per draw. The Olit Mega 200K at $37.99 works out to less than a cent per rated puff, the Crown Bar Ultra 25K to about $0.001. Even allowing that real e-hookah draws are far heavier than a rated puff, a single device covers dozens of lounge-length sessions.
What the lounge gives you that a pen does not is the setting, the coals, the shared hose and the fact that the bowl is packed for you. What the pen gives you that the lounge does not is zero setup, no charcoal and a session that fits in a pocket. The what is an e-hookah guide covers that trade in detail; this page is only about the arithmetic.
E-hookah versus buying a hookah and shisha
Owning a hookah means buying the pipe, a bowl, a heat manager or foil, charcoal and shisha tobacco, then replacing the last two as you go. The per-session cost is dominated by coals and tobacco, and both are bought in quantities that only pay off if you smoke several times a week. A high-capacity e-hookah replaces all of that with one purchase. Where a hookah still wins is if you already own one and smoke daily: a large box of shisha and a box of coals will run more sessions than any sealed disposable. The middle path is the Olit Hookalit Mega 200K, which fits a hookah base in place of the bowl and coals and refills with e-liquid, so an existing hookah becomes an electronic one.
How long each device lasts at your pace
Rated puffs divided by puffs per day gives days per device, and price divided by those days gives the cost per day. The three columns below assume a light, a regular and a heavy e-hookah habit; find the column nearest to yours. These are rated puffs, so treat the days as an upper bound.
| Device | Price | Light · 200 puffs/day | Regular · 500 puffs/day | Heavy · 1,000 puffs/day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olit Hookalit Mega 200K | $37.99 | 1000 days · $0.04/day | 400 days · $0.09/day | 200 days · $0.19/day |
| Geek Bar Burj 80K | $29.99 | 400 days · $0.07/day | 160 days · $0.19/day | 80 days · $0.37/day |
| Olit Hookalit Pro 60K | $20.99 | 300 days · $0.07/day | 120 days · $0.17/day | 60 days · $0.35/day |
| Olit Hookalit 40K | $18.99 | 200 days · $0.09/day | 80 days · $0.24/day | 40 days · $0.47/day |
| Al Fakher Crown Bar Ultra 25K | $23.99 | 125 days · $0.19/day | 50 days · $0.48/day | 25 days · $0.96/day |
Read the regular column and the practical difference is stark: the Crown Bar Ultra 25K is a 50-day device at 500 puffs a day, the Olit 40K an 80-day one, and the Olit Mega 200K a 400-day one before it needs a refill rather than a replacement. If you draw DTL, halve the Olit 40K's days; if you run the Burj in Pulse, halve its days too.
Work it out for any e-hookah
The same arithmetic works for a device we do not stock, so you can compare a shelf price anywhere: cost per 1,000 puffs = price ÷ (rated puffs ÷ 1,000). A $12 hookah pen rated 800 puffs is $15.00 per 1,000 — several times any device in the table above, which is the real reason the small-pen format has faded. A $30 device rated 30,000 puffs is $1.00 per 1,000. Two cautions when you compare: check that both ratings are for the same draw style, and check the nicotine, because a 5% device and a 0.35% device are not substitutes at any price. The e-hookah brands compared guide carries rated puffs and nicotine for brands we do not sell so you can run the numbers against ours.
What the sticker price does not include
- Shipping. US shipping is free over $80; under that, a flat fee shows at checkout. Two devices together clear the threshold on every combination here.
- Quantity discount. Orders of $150 or more take an automatic 10% off at checkout, which drops every cost-per-puff figure above by a tenth.
- A USB-C cable. None of the five devices ships with one; most people already own one.
- E-liquid for the Mega 200K. The refillable head's price is hardware only. Refills are a running cost, but far below rebuying a sealed device.
- State taxes. Several states levy vapor excise taxes that are collected at checkout and vary by ship-to address.
Cheapest way in versus cheapest to own
- Cheapest to try the format: the Olit Hookalit 40K at $18.99 — the lowest list price here and the widest Olit flavor menu. Cost per 1,000 puffs is mid-table.
- Cheapest to own over months: the Olit Hookalit Mega 200K at $37.99 — highest upfront, lowest per puff, and the only one you refill instead of replace.
- Best cost-per-puff among sealed disposables: the Olit Hookalit Pro 60K at $20.99 ($0.35 per 1,000), with the Geek Bar Burj 80K close behind at $0.37 as long as you run it in Eco mode.
- Pay a premium for pocket size and the Al Fakher name: the Crown Bar Ultra 25K at $23.99 — the highest cost per puff, but the smallest device and the only 5% option.
Nicotine strength changes the picture too: a 0.35% Olit and a 5% Crown Bar are not interchangeable even at the same price per puff. The three-brand comparison lays out draw, nicotine and flavors side by side; the ranked picks are in the best e-hookah guide.
