What is an e-hookah?
An e-hookah (also written ehookah or e hookah) is a battery-powered electronic hookah that vaporizes flavored e-liquid to recreate the smooth, cloud-heavy draw of a traditional shisha hookah — without charcoal, water, hose or setup.
An e-hookah (electronic hookah) is a self-contained vaping device tuned to imitate hookah, not a cigarette. It uses the same coil-and-battery technology as a disposable vape, but it is engineered for a softer, more voluminous draw and traditional shisha flavors like double apple. The defining difference from a real hookah: an e-hookah is draw-activated and ready in zero seconds — there is no charcoal to light, no water to fill, and no 15-minute setup.
How does an e-hookah work?
Inside every e-hookah is a rechargeable (or single-charge) battery, a heating coil, and a reservoir of flavored e-liquid. When you inhale, an airflow sensor switches on the coil, which heats the liquid into a thick aerosol you draw through the mouthpiece. Because nothing is burned, there's no smoke, ash or charcoal — only flavored vapor. Disposable e-hookahs come pre-filled and pre-charged, so you simply unbox and puff until the device is spent.
What's in a hookah vape? Part by part, on the devices we stock
"What's in a hookah vape" has a concrete answer for each device: a battery, a coil, a reservoir of flavored e-liquid and a draw sensor. The table lists those parts as each maker publishes them; a dash means the maker does not publish that figure, so we leave it blank rather than guess.
| Device | Battery | Coil | E-liquid reservoir | Nicotine in the e-liquid | How it switches on | Refillable? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olit Hookalit Mega 200K | 1700 mAh | Dual LIT mesh | 80 mL | 0.35% (3.5 mg/mL) | Draw-activated | No — sealed |
| Geek Bar Burj 80K | 1500 mAh | Dual mesh, 0.6Ω | 25 mL | 0.5% (5 mg/mL) | Auto-draw + mode button | No — sealed |
| Olit Hookalit Pro 60K | 1500 mAh | Mesh, 0.5Ω | 60 mL | 0.35% (3.5 mg/mL) | Draw-activated | No — sealed |
| Olit Hookalit 40K | 1300 mAh | Mesh, 0.6Ω | 40 mL | 0.35% (3.5 mg/mL) | Draw-activated, no buttons | No — sealed |
| Al Fakher Crown Bar Ultra 25K | 800 mAh | Dual mesh, 0.6Ω | — | — | Draw-activated | No — sealed |
There is no tobacco leaf, charcoal or water in any of them. The flavor comes from the e-liquid, which is why the same flavor name can taste different on two devices: coil type and draw style change how it lands.
E-hookah vs traditional hookah
A traditional hookah burns charcoal over a bowl of moist tobacco (shisha), pulling smoke through a water base and a hose. An e-hookah skips all of that:
- No charcoal or combustion — vapor is produced electronically, so there's no lighting, no ash, and no carbon monoxide from burning coals.
- No setup or cleanup — no packing a bowl, managing heat, or washing the base. It's pocket-sized and instant.
- Portable — an e-hookah goes where a 2-foot glass hookah can't.
- Same flavor family — the e-liquid keeps classic hookah profiles (double apple, mint, mixed berry, Love 66), so the taste stays familiar.

The four types of e-hookah
"E-hookah" covers four different formats, and the format decides how it draws, how long it lasts and whether you can change flavor. Every device in the table below fits one of these.
| Type | What it is | Typical rating | Change flavor? | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hookah pen (small disposable) | Pen-sized, pre-filled, often sold in packs; the original "e-hookah pen" format from the 2010s. Frequently offered with 0% nicotine. | Hundreds to a few thousand puffs | No — one pen, one flavor | Air Bar Stick Hookah Edition (2,500 puffs, not rechargeable) |
| High-capacity disposable e-hookah | A sealed device with a large tank and a rechargeable USB-C battery, tuned for a loose or DTL draw. The dominant format in 2026. | 25,000 to 80,000 puffs | No — sealed and pre-filled | Crown Bar Ultra 25K, Olit Hookalit 40K, Pro 60K, Geek Bar Burj 80K |
| E-hookah head | A tank, coil and battery unit that works on its own or sits on a hookah base in place of a clay bowl and coals. Most are disposable and pre-filled; a few refillable heads take bottled e-liquid. | Up to 200,000 puffs on disposable heads | Disposable heads: no. Refillable heads: yes | Olit Hookalit Mega 200K (disposable, 80 mL); refillable: Aspire Proteus Neo, Square E-Head (not stocked here) |
| E-hose | A hose-shaped electronic hookah, sold either sealed and disposable or with a replaceable cartridge, made to sit on a table like a traditional hose. | Rated per hose or cartridge | Only on cartridge versions | Starbuzz E-Hose 50K (disposable hose) |

How long does an e-hookah last?
Lifespan is measured in puffs, not hours. Modern e-hookahs range widely:
- Al Fakher Crown Bar Ultra — 25,000 puffs.
- Olit Hookalit 40K — 40,000 puffs.
- Olit Hookalit Pro 60K — 60,000 puffs.
- Geek Bar Burj 80K — 80,000 puffs of DTL shisha.
- Olit Hookalit Mega 200K — a disposable e-hookah head rated up to 200,000 puffs. (not sure what hookah head means here? it replaces the clay bowl).
For an average user, even a 25K device replaces dozens of small disposable pens, and a 200K head can last months. How to use a disposable e-hookah
- Unbox the device and remove any silicone plugs from the mouthpiece and airflow.
- If it has a USB-C port, top up the battery before first use (most ship partly charged).
- Inhale gently through the mouthpiece — it's draw-activated, so there are no buttons.
- Watch the battery/e-liquid screen (on devices that have one) and recharge as needed until the liquid runs out.
Is an e-hookah safe?
E-hookah aerosol is not water vapor and is not risk-free. These devices contain nicotine, which is addictive, and are intended only for adults 21 and over who already use nicotine. They are not a smoking-cessation product and make no health claims. If you don't already use nicotine, the safest choice is not to start. Keep all devices away from minors, pregnant or nursing people, and pets. How much nicotine a shisha bowl, a hookah session and each e-hookah carry is set out, with sources, in how much nicotine is in hookah.
